In 2010, Stanford Business School professor Jeffrey Pfeffer published an article in which he posed the following question: why are polar bears more important than people, not only in terms of research attention, but also as a focus for entrepreneurial initiatives? More than 10 years later, Pfeffer's question remains valid in many ways. The point he wanted to make, however, is that unlike much of what is contemplated when thinking about the social dimension of sustainability, the environmental dimension is much more visible.
