While the political left has always been suspicious, especially of the United States, of corporate capitalism, "big capital", corporate-military collaboration, the consumer society and the power of the secret services, today it is the political right that has focused on attacking the political establishment, the elite media and the neoliberal consensus.
The political poles have reversed. Conservative voters tend to see the world threatened and in decline because of the progressive, anti-human and anti-family values of some hidden interests. Therefore, they vote for the far right to counter these threats. At the same time, right-wing parties often feed and propagate these conspiratorial ideas to secure the vote and gain democratic support for the strong state. In terms of government proposals, far-right parties establish a new social pact among that part of society that views a new globalized, liberal and progressive world with fear and concern. The Trump phenomenon in the United States is the most emblematic and shocking case of extreme right-wing populist thinking.
